MiDAS Standard Course
Road Safety - Everyone's Business
MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, organised by the Community Transport Association U.K. (CTA) which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers.
It is a membership based scheme that is designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses, currently there are over 5,000 member organisations throughout the UK.
MiDAS Minibus Standard Driver Training

MiDAS Standard Driver Training is designed and certified by the CTA and is a quality standard for organisations and drivers who transport passengers in minibuses.

Is relevant to volunteers as well as paid employed staff

Covers legal, practical and safety issues - a comprehensive training package

Aims to improve passenger safety by providing the necessary skills for those who have responsibility of driving passengers and provides information to allow drivers to understand and meet the needs of their passengers

Certification last for four years after which a 1 day refresher course is required to maintain certification
Since January 2024, drivers wishing to obtain MiDAS Standard Certification are required to undergo an online theory assessment administered by the CTA.

Prerequisite for Standard Training
Anyone wishing to undertake the MiDAS standard course must hold a licence for the minibus in which they are to be trained.

Who Benefits from this Training?
MiDAS is applicable to any organisation operating or using minibuses. Member organisations range from small voluntary organisations operating one vehicle, to local authorities operating large fleets of minibuses as well as schools, colleges and universities.
